Welcome to the January edition of TEAP-Online Newsletter! This months newsletter includes some great deals on ITEA Memberships and some great ways to get the community involved in your programs. In addition, This months news letter contains two great grant opportunities... And while on the subject of grants... Congrats to Bill Hughes for being awarded one of the Best Buy Te@ch Grants, mentioned in the July/August 2004 edition of this newsletter!
 


ITEA Offers Student Teacher Membership Deal!

 

If you have a student teacher and want to get them off on the right foot professionally, get them to join the ITEA at the first time rate of $25.00 for a year of membership. This must be done before the conference. This is a great savings and will provide them with professional information and insurance. Go to http://www.iteaconnect.org and get them to sign up today! HP Technology for Teaching Grant

 

Hewlett-Packard Co. (HP) will award grants totaling $5 million in cash and HP equipment over two years to K-12 public schools and two- and four-year colleges and universities in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. This grant initiative is designed to support K-16 educators who are using mobile technology in innovative ways, and to help identify K-12 schools and higher education institutions that HP might support with future grants. Based on the outcomes of the projects funded through this initiative in 2005, HP will offer grant recipients the opportunity to receive higher-value grants in 2006. The application deadline is February 15, 2005 and winners will be notified by May 1, 2005.

SMARTer Kids Grant for SMART Products
SMARTer Kids Grant for SMART Products is an educational award that helps educators purchase SMART products for their classrooms. Developed by the SMARTer Kids Foundation, the Grant has helped tens of thousands of K-12 schools, higher-education facilities and technical institutions acquire interactive technology by increasing its affordability.

 

- Applications must be received prior to midnight, September 30, 2005 

- Grants must be utilized by October 31, 2005

Web Design Competition

The US Department of State sponsors an annual Web page design competition, Doors to Diplomacy. Teams of middle school and high school students design, research and develop an informational Web page featuring information about one of eight study topics. Included among the eight categories are science and Technology, Safety and Security, Health and environmental Awareness.
